The part that is slid on should be about at least an inch. The inside should be painted to dull it down, but not the part that slides on as it will then most likely not slide on. It can be taped or a thin cord can be super glued so the elastic can be anchored on the elevation turret. This prevents the sun from hitting the lens and therefore creates a dark tunnel for the lighted reticle to shine. Feel free to make this as I do know the frustrations of interdiction targeting with glare. You will make friends and customers to offer something like this as it corrects one of the two biggest cripes about this scope. I just wish I could afford two each of the 1×8, 3×18, and 4×24. My optic needs would be ended. Take care always be 360 aware. The inside could be coated with a short piece of a grasping type thin foam to hold it on the tube.
